Demonstration of surface oxidation after 6-month ageing at 40ºC and 60º C but not at room temperature (homogeneous oxidation) using two different techniques.

External oxidation layer < 3 mm (approx. 10% of height)

 

Ageing at 60 °C

Conclusions

• Conformity of simulated profiles with SEM data
• Diffusion limited by oxidized surface layer
• Faster saturation at 60°C due to accelerated oxidation
